Time for a small business break? 😎

I used to think that taking time off from my business meant falling behind.

There was always something else to do: one more email to write, one more thing to improve, one more idea to work on. And because online businesses never really close, it’s very easy to feel like you should always be doing something.

But something I’ve noticed over time is that sometimes the best ideas arrive when you stop looking for them.

A walk, a few days away, a morning without checking what needs your attention, or a conversation that has nothing to do with your business can create the space we need to see things more clearly.

When we step away, we often come back with a better idea of what actually matters, what can wait, what is worth creating, and what we were only doing because we felt we “should.”

Of course, taking time off is not always easy when you are building something yourself. There is always that little voice saying: “Maybe I should just check one thing…” (And we all know how that usually ends. 😄)

But a business that depends completely on you being switched on every single day is not giving you much freedom.

So this week, my reminder is simple:

Take a little time away.

Not because you are avoiding work, but because you are protecting the energy and creativity that make the work possible.

If you are taking a few days off soon, enjoy them properly. Your inbox will still be there, your ideas will still be there, and hopefully you’ll come back with a few new ones too.

Have a great week!

P.S. I’m writing this reminder as much for myself as for you. 😄 Sometimes the hardest person to convince that it’s okay to take a break is the person running the business.

Coffee break?

Thursday is International Coffee Day, which seems like a good excuse to talk about something many of us find surprisingly difficult: taking a proper break when there’s still work to do. You make a coffee, sit down for a moment, and your brain immediately starts listing emails, unfinished tasks and things you might forget. Before long, you’re checking your phone or opening your laptop. The break has turned into work with a mug beside it. One small thing that can help is to decide what you’ll...

What if you don’t have to figure it all out?

Some projects are hard to start because they feel like ten projects hiding inside one. You want to build something, but then you start thinking about all the pieces involved. What tools do I need? What do I choose? How do I set it up? What am I forgetting? What if I choose the wrong thing? And before you have even started, the project already feels exhausting. When that happens, I think there is another question worth asking: What could make this easier before I begin? Sometimes the answer is...
